Government of Canada invests in 7,700 world-class researchers and projects across the country
Over $1.7 billion in funding allocated to researchers and students, including $347 million to 882 university researchers through NSERC’s Alliance program.
NSERC and the NRC launch a collaborative funding opportunity to advance the industrial readiness of quantum sensing technologies
NSERC and the NRC are partnering through Alliance Quantum grants to launch a call for proposals to strengthen Canada's quantum research and innovation capacity in quantum sensing. Together, the two agencies will provide an envelope of up to $12 million over three years.
Lab to Market grants: New initiative to support entrepreneurial training
The new tri-agency initiative supports Canadian post-secondary institutions and their affiliated institutions in creating and sustaining networks across Canada dedicated to the development and delivery of entrepreneurial skills training. Grants will range from $1 million to $10 million per year for a period of up to five years, with a possibility of renewal.
Government of Canada introduces new measures to protect Canadian research
New measures include implementing the new Policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern, launching Canada’s new Research Security Centre, and supporting post-secondary institutions through the Research Support Fund.
Mobilize grants 2024 competition now open
Mobilize grants provide Canadian colleges with long-term funding that can be applied to single, multiple or institution-wide applied research programs in the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities and health sciences fields.
The Government of Canada to support an international collaborative effort to address global challenges through the bioeconomy
The Government of Canada, through NSERC and SSHRC, joins efforts with international partners to take part in a second edition of the Global Centres initiative. The initiative is led by the US National Science Foundation to support use-inspired research addressing global challenges through the bioeconomy.
NSERC’s Accessibility Progress Report 2023
NSERC is committed to achieving universal accessibility for its research community and staff. The Agency published its 2023 progress report highlighting key achievements and summarizing feedback received on the Plan. NSERC also posted an American Sign Language version of the general and executive summary sections of its first Progress Report, in support of its engagement towards overcoming communication barriers.
Canada Research Coordinating Committee welcomes Alejandro Adem as chair
The members of the Canada Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) are pleased to welcome Alejandro Adem, president of NSERC, as chair, effective January 1, 2024. Prof. Adem previously served as chair in 2021 and 2022.
